About the jobWe are looking for a Passive Network Design Engineer to support the Factory Projects in Montreal, Canada. This role will report into the central IT PMO organization and collaborate with both local stakeholders as well as central teams. The Passive Network Design Engineer will be a Subject Matter Expert for the passive network scope and representing the IT team for internal and external design discussions. Key internal Stakeholders will be Global IT Network Architects, Lead Network Engineers, Blueprint team and other related Design Engineers supporting Concept, Basic and Detailed design. The Passive Network Design Engineer is a key player in all design meetings with 3rd party contractors assigned to do the factory design for Northvolt factories. In addition to a consultative role, the Passive Network Design Engineer will also have the responsibility to keep the Northvolt IT Network documentation updated and in alignment with dependent departments and central guidelines. The candidate must have experience in the production of or management of designs, calculations, reports, and drawings for HV power transmission systems, HVDC interconnectors, or HV renewable energy infrastructure, in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). The candidate must have full working proficiency in both German and English. The candidate must have specialist knowledge in one of the following areas; HV cable design, Overhead line design, and Substation Primary design. The role will involve occasional travel to BakerHicks offices in London and may involve travel around the DACH region depending on client requirements. While developing new workstreams, there will be the opportunity to work with existing clients and on existing projects in the UK. An existing network of client contacts in the DACH region is a bonus, but not critical. Traveling activity The duration of our projects is usually between 6 and 24 months. Depending on the project and the project phase, the work location is mainly the project location at the customer, although mobile working from home is sometimes possible in consultation with the project management.
