Your missionWith immediate effect, we are looking to hire a passionate Scientist – Computational Biology [f/m/d] into our Molecular Biology team. By closely working with biologists and biomedical experts, you will be responsible for computational downstream analysis of high-dimensional spatial single cell data with a strong focus on immuno-oncology.This is a full-time role, based in the company office in Monheim am Rhein, Germany, where you will be working in close interaction with the Molecular Biology and the Data Science team. It comes with the opportunity to work with other company sites around the world.Responsibilities: Work closely within teams to apply software tools and pipelines for computational downstream analysis of molecular cartography spatial multi-omic datasets.Draw biological conclusions from high-dimensional single cell data (imaging and sequencing-based), e.g., by analyzing cell types, differential expression, cellular neighborhoods, and cell-cell communication.Evaluation of technical influence on data analysis (e.g., cell segmentation)Work with internal and external oncology experts to design and evaluate panels.Collect requirements from team members and other project teams.Train and support internal users of data analysis tools and pipelines.Work effectively with internal developers and external partners in achieving shared project goals and timelines.Responsible for personal work planning against agreed-upon objectives.Your profilePhD in biology, bioinformatics or similar with 3+ years of experienceExtensive experience in the analysis of high-dimensional single cell data (e.g., scRNA-seq) using state-of-the art packages such as Seurat, Scanpy and custom scripts.Experience in computational downstream analysis of oncology and/or systems immunology data is desired.Proficiency in R is required, knowledge of Python is desired.Experience with fluorescence microscopy, image analysis and respective software packages is beneficial.Experience in using workflow tools such as Snakemake or Nextflow is beneficial.Experience with experimental design / study design for harmonized analysis of multi-experiment, multi-variable studies with large numbers of samples is a plus.Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with a strong attention to scientific detail.Structured, team-oriented, common goal mindset, excellent communication skills.Willingness to travel internationally if the need should arise.Personal CharacteristicsAt Resolve Biosciences, we believe that diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential to our success. Position Overview The Research Scientist I, with limited guidance from more experienced scientists, works individually and in collaboration with others on multiple projects which are moderate to complex in scope. The Research Scientist I plays an active role in the analysis of mass-spectromotry proteomics data and experiments and is often the technical lead responsible for the successful data analysis and interpretation of results of the project. This position involves independently making detailed observations, analyzing data and interpreting results. Working in a team setting, the Research Scientist I, will be an integral part of the mass-spectromotry proteomics data analysis and discovery group. Essential Duties include but are not limited to the following: Analyze research/experimental data, interpret the results, and provide insights into the next steps. Independently develop, plan, and conduct advanced research experiments, identify problems and discrepancies, analyze results, and identify and address trends in study data. Utilize and apply methods or technologies effectively and provide ideas for new techniques, when appropriate. Provide technical input and develop research plans, experimental outlines, and design. Prepare and provide information and data for scientific abstracts, industry conferences, project meetings, or publication. Present experimental results and defend scientific ideas and findings at group meetings. Work on problems that are diverse and complex in scope in which analysis of data requires in-depth evaluation of identifiable factors. Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them. Promote an open, collaborative environment built on trust to foster positive teamwork. Our mission is to contribute to the company pipeline, by providing state-of-the-art quantitative and computational approaches, working collaboratively with scientists and colleagues of other functions. We are hiring a Principal Scientist, Bioinformatics, based in Marburg, to join the multinational Bioinformatics Europe team, with members also in Bern and Zurich, Switzerland. In this newly created position, you will be responsible for the delivery of Bioinformatics work in drug projects, both in preclinical research and clinical development, addressing questions of study and assay design, mechanism of action, target discovery and validation, biomarker discovery and validation, safety, patient stratification, indication selection, and asset positioning. The Role Your main responsibility will be to provide high-level scientific expertise and carry out hands-on work, with a large level of autonomy, while embedded in project teams with members of several Research functions. You will have a focus on project delivery and getting things done under tight deadlines, without compromising quality and scientific integrity. Another objective will be for you to help to set project objectives and work packages, in collaboration with members of other functions, and to support the definition of procedures for data generation and analysis. You will process and analyze data, will interpret results in the context of the research questions and objectives of the project, will prepare reports and summaries for dissemination, and will present results to different project and leadership teams. As an expert in the field, you will lead and contribute to the development of bioinformatics pipelines and capabilities. You will co-author manuscripts for scientific publications and presentations to scientific conferences. You will lead and support other members in the Bioinformatics function and work alongside CSL Behring’s external partners and collaborators. Your Skills and Experience: Postgraduate degree (preferably PhD) in Bioinformatics, Computational biology, Biotechnology, or similar discipline, with a focus on computational work and a substantial exposure to biomedicine. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience after the postgraduate degree, preferably in the pharma/biotech industry, or in academic/research institutions with a focus on biomedicine. You have a formal background in at least one of the following disciplines: Biology, Mathematics, or Computer Science, and you have the commitment to learn from the other two as required for your work and your professional development.
