By joining us, you will be a key player in establishing the material handling function for production and contribute to building one of the first large scale North American battery factories. About the jobReporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the Material Handling Engineer will be responsible for material flow design and automation for our first battery assembly and production downstream facility, from engineering to commissioning. Equipment types in scope include ASRSs, ARGVs, conveyance, robots, etc. About the team The Material Flow team is responsible for ensuring the efficiency and quality of the design and implementation of a highly automated production process for both raw material introduction and work in progress material movement. These projects support production both inside and outside clean and dry rooms. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to : Work with the blueprint & design Factory team and our engineering consultants to ensure alignment in material handling design. Work with suppliers in the mechanical design and implementation of material flow automation systems for advanced factories. Coordinate and execute the commissioning work of the equipment together with the suppliers and with other Northvolt departments (e.g. Construction, Strategy, Purchasing, Digitalisation, Manufacturing). Create process flowcharts, identify interfaces with process equipment and develop risk-mitigating solutions. Create the basic operational standards required to hand-over the engineering project to the manufacturing team. Collaborate with the Automation and Controls Team to implement the material flow system design into functions in the WMS/WCS/MES.
